Minecraft is a very popular sandbox game which was created by Swedish developer Mojang Studios. It was first shown in public on May 2009 before fully releasing on November 2011 .

The original idea for Minecraft was conceived of by Swedish programmer Markus Persson as an educational tool to teach himself and other programmers programming languages such as Java.

Designing the game involved a lot of iteration and iteration which is evident in the game's early access state. The game was originally created to be a test-bed for the programming language Java. However, as Minecraft evolved the language quickly became a way to express complex interactions and systems within the game.

You can build anything you can imagine, from a small platform in the corner of a Minecraft world, to a small house in the middle of a large world. You can build with blocks, create structures and dungeons, and fight against enemies.
  • Players can play either single player, where the player explores the world and collects resources, or multiplayer, where the player explores with other players, builds, and works together to accomplish goals. In both modes, players gather resources from the world to build things, machines, and structures. There are also game modes that are designed for single players, such as Creative and Survival. There are also game modes designed to be played with other players, such as Creative Multiplayer and Survival Multiplayer.
  • Minecraft has also become a platform for many players to create and share their own content. Players can create their own multiplayer games, movies, music, and art using the game engine and other tools.
